About: This is a sort of urban hike in the middle of the city where an old and abandoned hydroelectric dam is. It follows a long set of stairs, around 405 so not quite 500, that parallels a giant water pipe. There used to be a cable to at least hold on to while you climb up and down the steps, though that cable is gone now and therefore requires more caution. The steps are steep and tall. After the steps you reach the river down below, and there is more adventure for the adrenaline junkies if you want to cross on an old metal bridge frame. There is railing to hold on to, though you are walking on a thin metal bar about 20 feet above a fast-moving river during the rainy season. It is relatively safe, though not for the faint of heart. After crossing the bridge, you can enjoy some of the cleaner pools near the river, though be careful of the dirty ones. Take plenty of water and snacks to enjoy down at the river for a picnic.
