Catarata del Toro

Posted on September 16, 2024July 17, 2024 by Ultimate Guide

About: This is an out-and-back hike which includes over 350 stairs to a single spectacular waterfall in the Bajos del Toro region. It is a tough hike, but well worth the views and pictures. However, you cannot swim in this waterfall. The property is run by the same owners as Blue Falls of Costa Rica right across the street, where you can visit 6 waterfalls and swim in the natural pools. It is recommended to first visit this one, and then go across to Blue Falls.

Province: Alajuela

Starting from: Downtown Alajuela

Time to reach from starting location: 1 hour 50 minutes

Time needed for activity: 1.5 hours

Kid friendly: Yes

Wheelchair accessible: No

What to wear and bring: Comfortable clothes, walking or hiking shoes, sandals or water shoes, swimsuit, towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, insect repellent, hat, sunglasses, poncho or rain jacket, camera, backpack, water, snacks

Tips: Make sure to start as early as possible if you want enough time to visit Blue Falls without rushing or skipping any parts.
