About: This national park offers hiking trails, rivers, and a waterfall. There are rarely many people. There are bathrooms and running water, but no food is sold here, so bring plenty of water and snacks.
Province: Guanacaste
Starting from: Liberia
Time to reach from starting location: 1 hour 45 minutes
Time needed for activity: 3+ hours
Kid friendly: Yes
Wheelchair accessible: No
What to wear and bring: Comfortable clothes, walking or hiking shoes, sandals or water shoes, swimsuit, towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, insect repellent, hat, sunglasses, poncho or rain jacket, field guides, camera, binoculars, backpack, water, snacks, pack lunch
Tips: A 4×4 SUV is required to reach the parking lot since you have to cross a river. In the rainy season, depending on the flow and depth of the river, it may not be possible or recommended to cross. It is best to visit during the dry season. If you don’t feel comfortable crossing the river in the car, you can park and walk the rest of the way. It will add significant length to your journey, but it is worth it, since you are going to hike anyway!
