About: This reserve is located on the slopes of the Poas Volcano, so it is a good place for hiking at elevation. There are 3 public trails that are relatively short but inclined. There are 2 other private trails that can be accessed with the land owner’s permission. One of them is relatively short and leads to a waterfall. The other is long and leads to the Poas Volcano. This reserve is not frequented by many visitors, so you may not run into many other hikers. However, that makes it a good place to spot wildlife. The trails are not in the best condition, and neither is the road to get here. You will definitely want an SUV with clearance.
