Matapalo Beach

About: This beach is in front of the two all-inclusive Riu Hotels, but there are public access roads before and after the hotel entrance, which is limited to guests. It is a long beach, with vendors selling snacks, massages, and water activities. There are two restaurants on one of the public access roads. There are monkeys and other wildlife. There are trees that provide shade. There are no bathrooms.

What to wear and bring: Comfortable clothes, sandals or water shoes, swimsuit, towel, change of clothes, sunscreen, insect repellent, hat, sunglasses, umbrella or shade, camera, backpack, water, snacks

Tips: If you want to go further down the road past Matapalo Beach to Matapalito Beach, be aware that the road is not paved after the Riu Hotels, and is muddy during rainy season. It is a few kilometers long, so it can be walked or driven.
