About: This farm originally began as a monkey rescue center with just a couple of volunteers but soon turned into an animal rescue center. Their goal was to be completely self-sufficient. They have a wide variety of rescue wildlife, as well as an aquaponics system that works with fish, fruit, vegetables, and herbs. They have farm animals that produce eggs and milk for dairy products. They have developed many programs over the years that focus on giving back to the community in many ways. Once a week they provide free meals to the local homeless. They teach English to local adults twice a week. They provide free equine therapy to children with disabilities once a week. Over time they realized the needs of the local homeless men struggling with addiction, and they turned their international volunteer program into a recovery program for the locals who needed help. Now these men are running the farm instead of international volunteers. The men stay for 13 months to complete the program. They are also the ones who give tours to visitors, helping them to practice their English. Over the years they continue to develop and expand their programs and their capacity to hold as many people in need as possible. They offer several tours including their interactive farm tour and several horseback riding tours on the beach or in the jungle. They also offer two voluntourism tours which include a mini farm tour and either working on their monkey bridges or preparing food for the homeless.
