Top 10 in Flamingo

Posted on September 15, 2025January 2, 2026 by Ultimate Guide

My top 10 picks for Flamingo, all kid-friendly:

  1. Flamingo Beach: the main beach in the Flamingo area, highlights include its beauty, sunset views, family-friendliness, and ease of access, with cons being limited parking at peak times
  2. Las Catalinas and Danta Beach: the most unique and quaint town in Costa Rica, with European architecture and cobblestone paths, with a picturesque beach and bay right in front, it is perfect for strolling, relaxing, and playing
  3. Playa Danta to Playa Dantita: a stunning hike from one beach to the next with coastal views, though it can get hot and there are no amenities, water, food, or bathrooms once you begin the hike, so avoid the hottest part of the day and be prepared
  4. Real Beach (Pirate Bay): another great beach, this one is off the beaten path and much less crowded than the others mentioned above, but well worth the extra effort to reach, with a unique large rock formation in the water that can be walked around during low tide
  5. Flamingo Catamaran Adventure: a catamaran tour in Guanacaste is a must and fits the vibe perfectly, and this one does not disappoint
  6. Pacific Horses: a horseback ride along the beaches is a great way to connect with nature and see the sights
  7. Potrero ATV Tours: if horses aren’t your thing, you can do the same trek but via ATV, seeing multiple towns and beaches in one tour
  8. Pablo Surf School: learning to surf in Guanacaste is a must for those that love the water and physical activity
  9. Pura Vida Ride: this company has a storefront with all your vacation and activity needs, and also offers tours, including bike tours, which is another unique way to see the sights
  10. Tour Guanacaste: this company offers snorkeling tours, for those that love to see what’s going on below the surface of the water

Honorable mentions:

  1. Golf Cart Rentals Flamingo: golf carts are a great way to get around in Flamingo because there are many nearby towns and beaches to explore
  2. Skyline Canopy: if Flamingo is your only destination in Costa Rica, you can still partake in the popular zipline tours with this tour that’s just a short drive from Flamingo
  3. The Beach Chocolate Factory: this chocolate shop offers workshops for an interactive activity that is great for all ages if you need a break from all the outdoor adventures

Restaurant picks:

  1. Brothers of Ale Brewing: this craft brewery and restaurant is perfect for the beer lover and foodie, and offers live music, sports, and special events
