Arenal Volcano Ecological Park

About: There are various trail loops going up the volcano to the old lava flow measuring distances from 2 kilometers to 6 kilometers. There is also a small lake where you can kayak, canoe, stand up paddle, swim, and jump off the tarzan swing into the lake. Camping is possible here.

Time to reach from starting location: 14 minutes

Time needed for activity: 2 hours for the hike, plus any time spent at the lake

Kid friendly: Yes

Wheelchair accessible: No, the trails are pretty steep.

What to wear and bring: Comfortable clothes, walking or hiking shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, hat, poncho or rain jacket, camera, water, snacks, pack lunch

Tips: Bring a pack lunch. No food or drinks are sold here. Hike first and then cool off in the lake.
