About: This wildlife refuge consists of a wide expanse of lagoons that are home to a variety of ecological diversity including fish, mammals, and migratory birds that use the refuge for resting and feeding. It is considered a Ramsar site due to its biological wealth as a wetland environment. Some notable migratory birds include cuckoo, kingfisher, warbler, marsh hawk, cliff duck, cotinga, bittern and house wren. Notable fish include gaspar, tilapia, tarpon and guapote tiger. Notable mammals include jaguars, pumas, tapirs, ocelots, howler monkeys, tayras, two-toed sloths, otters, skunks and deer. The best way to experience this refuge is with a guided boat tour.
