La Iguana Chocolate

Posted on April 14, 2025December 16, 2024 by Ultimate Guide

About: This chocolate tour is technically in the province of San Jose, though it is far from the metropolitan area. It is located deep in the rainforest, off the beaten path, but that makes it all the more worth it. You will learn all about cacao and the chocolate-making process, tasting samples at every stage. You will even get to participate in making bon bons, tempering chocolate, and making hot chocolate. It is very hands-on, and is perfect for all ages. Lunch is available for an additional fee.

Province: San Jose

Starting from: Downtown San Jose

Time to reach from starting location: 2 hours 14 minutes

Time needed for activity: 2.5 hours

Kid friendly: Yes

Wheelchair accessible: Yes

What to wear and bring: Comfortable clothes, walking or hiking shoes, sunscreen, insect repellent, hat, sunglasses, camera

Tips: A 4×4 SUV is best, especially during the rainy season. Since is it pretty far for a day trip, and because there are plenty of nearby activities, especially waterfalls and hikes, it is probably best to find a nearby hotel and stay for a couple of days to take advantage of the drive.
