About: This is one of if not the most popular peak to hike in the Downtown San Jose and metropolitan area in general. Depending on your starting point, it is about 2 kilometers of moderate to difficult terrain up to the peak, but depending on your condition can take anywhere from 1-2 hours. Many people use it as training for hiking Cerro Chirripo, the highest peak in Costa Rica, as it is at elevation and involves technical and steep ascents and descents. Take extra care when hiking during the rainy season. No food is sold on the mountain, so bring plenty of snacks and water. It can get cool and windy, so dress appropriately in layers, and wear good hiking shoes. Hiking poles will also be extremely helpful.

It is best to hike with someone who knows the area, or in the very least not alone if you are not an experienced hiker.
