There are 3 different route options from Downtown Alajuela/Heredia/San Jose, collectively known as the GAM (Gran Area Metropolitana), to La Fortuna: Route 702, Route 126 to Route 140, and Route 141. They all take roughly the same amount of time, but offer different pit stops along the way.
