About: This is one of 4 beaches with public access on the Papagayo Peninsula. The other 3 are Playa Nacascolo, Playa Prieta, and Playa Virador. They are all located within a sort of luxury resort compound that consists of resorts like Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, and Planet Hollywood. Non-guests are not allowed inside the “compound” unless using their free shuttle service that stops at these 4 beaches. There is a large parking lot where you can park your car for free, and then take the shuttle to whichever beach you like. Playa Virador is located near the Four Seasons resort. Playa Virador is one of 3 of the beaches that requires steps to go down. Playa Virador and Playa Prieta share a shuttle drop-off point. There are around 700 steps down to reach the beach from the shuttle drop-off point, so it isn’t a good option for young kids or those with limited mobility, or if you have a lot of stuff to carry. It takes about 30 minutes to climb the stairs. There is a shower at the top of the stairs to rinse off. It is a beautiful beach with white sand and blue water. The water isn’t as calm as on the gulf side. There may be jellyfish. There are no shops or restaurants, so you must bring all your food and drinks for the day.
